Hi! I’m Rachel, and this is my blog. I’m a 33-year-old wife, mother, blogger, web designer, wordpress developer, and social media marketing specialist living in lovely Salt Lake City, Utah, with two growing boys (ages 10 & 12), two fur babies, and a wonderful husband who puts up with all of us. I’m still a recent transplant to Utah, originally from Peoria, Arizona. I moved here here in 2010 to get a fresh start.
I was lucky enough to get an early introduction to the internet. Arizona State University offered teachers access to the gopher network, and I eagerly searched the resources provided to me, learning to use Telnet to chat and reading classic novels on the computer. I found the “handshake” of the modem exhilarating and I’ve been hooked ever since.
When Netscape 1.0 was installed on my computer and actual websites began to appear, I knew right away that I needed to learn how to make my own. I taught myself HTML and soon had my first website on Geocities.com. The web became my artistic playground and I found deep fulfillment in writing code in a text editor. I soon made friends who also were into web design and we learned from one another. I created the website for both high schools I attended and continued to self-educate myself on the latest and greatest techniques.
